Wednesday Trends - Masking

Hello! Happy Halloween!!! It's Kelly here with Wednesday Trends and today is all about masking. Masking is covering up all or part of an image and stamping over it, to create levels of dimension in your final image. I love using this technique to set a scene on a card or when creating a bouquet of flowers.

Let's get started! Since it's Halloween, I chose Hauntingly Delightful to work with today. It's a fun set to work with on its own, but add the masking technique and you'll be able to create even more adorable images.

The first step is to create the mask. I chose Dracula here from this set and stamped him once on a Post-It paper (blue here) and once on my white cardstock. Then I carefully cut out the blue dracula to form my mask. (Once I create a mask for a stamp set, I store it with the stamp set for future use.)

Next step is to take the mask and carefully place it over the image that was stamped on the white cardstock. Then stamp images that you would like to appear behind the main image. When masking, you work from the front to the back. Here I put some bats behind Dracula. Whatever part of the bat stamps onto the blue mask will not show up on the final image.

I did this several times, keeping the mask in place over the original stamped image. When I was happy with the design, I removed the mask and was left with this image:

Of course this is only the beginning! I went to work coloring the image and making him the star of a Halloween card, shown here:

When coloring this image, I also used the reverse masking technique, using a circle die. Here I wanted the white to remain on the outside to form a border, so I left the image in the die and sponged the white cardstock with a yellow ink. When I removed the die, the border was left white.

Here are some other projects I made using the masking technique:
For this card, I used one bloom to create a bouquet of flowers. I also used another mask to create a vertical edge on each side of the bouquet.

Here I used two reindeer from the HoHoHo to create Santa's team. I also put Rudolph next to Santa here. So cute!!

Hope you will try this technique soon! Have fun!!

Stampbook Saturday- Jessica K.

Hi everyone, happy Stampbook Saturday!Today I'm sharing a Stampbook page with you that was inspired by this gorgeous card that Torico made using the You're A Hoot stamp set-
I hate to say this but it has been ages since I've done any type of Stampbooking. I have a ton of pictures from my oldest daughter Kylie's Make A Wish trip to Florida this past April so I decided to scrap two of my favorites. I took this picture when we got back to our hotel after spending the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This park was my favorite of all the parks that we visited! While we were there we let the girls get their faces painted :)

I love the colors and layout she used on this card so I tried to incorporate both in my Stampbook Page. I used the two TSG stamp sets Zoopendous and Jungle Out There. The images were stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with a combination of Copic and Touch Twin markers. The colored images were stamped onto a separate piece of paper, cut out and adhered to the layout using dimensionals. I stamped the elephant, hippos and zebra directly onto the layout but did not color them because I wanted to add some depth to the layout without it becoming too busy.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

TSG Door Hanger Project

It’s Friday so that means it’s time for another fun Anything But A Card project! Jessica here to share a fun and easy to make door hanger project that can be made for any occasion.
I’ve had my Silhouette Cameo machine for about a year now and I have to say, it is so much fun to play with! I love all of the different types of things that I can create with the easy to use software.

I came up with the idea of making a door hanger project when I was working on my sneak peeks for the JFY Halloween Additions stamp set and Just For You Dies. I wanted the door hanger to be about the size of the larger dies so the front of box is 2.5x3.25 inches.

Below are a couple of different samples that I made-
Stamp set used: Get Well Wishes

Stamp set used: Treemendous

Trendsetter Tuesday-Stephanie!!

Once again, There She Goes fans, we want to apologize for NOT having our regularly scheduled release. We are STILL experiencing customer service issues with the companies that make our stamps, and in order to BEST serve you all, we are going to wait until our normal release time in November. For now, we are going to go back to business as usual! THANK YOU SO MUCH for being such great fans, and being so understanding! We love you all so much!!

So...this Trendsetter term, there aren't enough weeks for all of our designers to be the Trendsetter of the Week, so I wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight one of our new girls, Stephanie!!!

Stephanie and I "met" on the Ribbon Carousel Crew, and I fell in LOVE with her work, AND her personality. She is a PERFECT fit on the Trendsetters!!

Here is a card by Stephanie using the Blossom By Blossom set. I LOVE this stamp set, and I LOVE what she's done with it! Great paper piecing, great colors...I just LOVE it!

For her second card, I chose to show her You're a Hoot card from this past week. I LOVE her paper choices on this card, and the embellishments and die cuts are amazing. Love, love, love it!

For her final project, I fell in LOVE with what she did with the new Just For You Halloween Additions set from this month's release. SO cute and FUN!!!!!

Well that is it for me for now! Be sure to visit Stephanie on her blog, and leave her some love!!

Stampbook Saturday- It's a jungle out there

Hi there everyone!!! It's Angela here and it's my turn for Stampbook Saturday.  I'll have to admit that if you asked me a year ago if I liked scrapbooking, the answer would be a definite no.  However, I am liking it more and more and have been creating some fun scrapbook pages.  Adding stamps, makes scrapbooking that much more fun.

I'm sorry for the quality of the picture.... I forgot to take a picture during the day and am having a hard time getting a decent pic.  For my page, I decided to use some pictures that I took quite a few years ago at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, NC.  (I lived there for 3 years and the zoo was always a great place to go).

To add some fun elements to the page, I decided to use a vine die and then some of the images from the TSG set called "Jungle Out There". I have watercolored the image using Tombow Markers and then cut them out and popped them up.

A simple sentiment finishes off the page.  Love it!!!

Thanks for popping by today :-)
