Wednesday Trends - Scoring Lines

Hello Friends! It's Theresa here with this week's trend. I enjoy looking at cards that are embossed, but I really love cards that have crisp single line embossing; I don't always see it being used. Silke Ledlow, former Trendsetter does it the best. I had a conversation with her and and asked her how she got her lines to show through so perfectly. She gave me her secret and I'm going to share that with you today.

Here are some simple supplies you need:

A Scor-Pal and an embossing stylus. That's it! Oh and paper. One thing I learned about paper is that thick card stock (regardless of using the stylus or the bone folder) tends to crack - which if you want to create a card with that vintage feel would be best. However, if you want clean and simple lines I have found that SU Exclusive Card Stock 80lb smooth gives the perfect crisp lines.

I love my Scor-Pal. I like that you can choose the measurable distance between the lines. For today's card I chose 1/8 inch and 1/2 inch apart. I lay my paper down and gently push the stylus though. It's that simple.

I am in need of several thank you cards and when it comes to thanks - I like to make the card CAS. I had "tuxedo" in my head...I used two sets for this card ~ Act of Kindness and Nature of Friendship. Look how beautiful the embossed lines are. I hope you'll give this a try on a future card.

I'll be back on Friday with a fun ABC (anything but a card) project.
